Enhancing the heart of our community

The Town is committed to enhancing downtown Okotoks through major infrastructure and streetscape upgrades. These improvements will create a more welcoming, accessible and connected community, support local businesses and drive economic growth.

Construction May - October

Construction along North Railway Street from Elm Place to the east edge of Alberta Avenue is underway. There is a full road closure in place between Poplar Avenue and Alberta Avenue until October 2025. North Railway Street traffic will be detoured via McRae Street and Alberta Avenue during this time. Downtown improvements include:

  • updating aging underground water & sewer networks; burying overhead power lines
  • widening sidewalks & boulevards
  • installing a roundabout at Lineham Avenue
  • improving streetscape (i.e., accessibility, lighting & seating)
  • enhancing Pisttoo Park

Expect temporary traffic changes and watch for detour signage. We appreciate your patience during this busy construction season as we invest in a better future for all.
