Project Details

In 2025, The Town of Okotoks received more than $5 million from the Government of Alberta through the Local Growth and Sustainability Grant (LGSG) to fund essential deep utility and road infrastructure.

This work will help create a more welcoming, accessible and connected community, strengthen economic growth and support the implementation of Our Plan for Downtown (Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan).

Phase 1 of the project began last spring, and we'll now be building on that progress as we continue with this project throughout the upcoming construction season, spring to fall 2026. Phase 2 of the project will occur from fall 2026 to fall 2027.

What to Expect During Construction

Minimizing Construction Impacts

We know construction can be disruptive. Here’s how we’re reducing impacts wherever possible:

  • Maintaining access for businesses, residents and visitors throughout construction
  • Carefully phasing work to reduce congestion and shorten disruptions
  • Coordinating detours and closures between this project and the Downtown Main Street improvement project also occurring this year
  • Enhanced parking solutions: parking on Daggett Street (Northridge Drive to Veterans Way) to be completed in conjunction with other project work to offset parking interruptions
  • Continuous communication with residents, businesses and community members as the project progresses

Detours

Detours play a vital role in keeping pedestrians, motorists, cyclists and construction crews safe. During each phase of construction, crews will implement detours to provide all road users with an alternative route around the construction zone.
