2025 Budget Approved

21 November 2024

On November 19, 2024 at the Annual Budget Meeting, Okotoks Council approved several amendments to the 2025 budget, focusing on relevance and doing what we heard was important to Okotoks’ residents and businesses. The approved total operating budget for 2025 is $80.386 million.

These adjustments have ultimately resulted in a 2025 property tax increase that is lower than originally forecasted. With the addition of a decrease in utility rates, the average Okotoks homeowner will see a total increase of only $1.99 per month or $23.88 per year (average homeowner = single-family home with an assessed value of $663,000).

Several licensing fees were also reviewed and streamlined:

  1. Discontinuation of dog licensing fees (except for adoption and fancier licenses).
  2. Discontinuation of urban hen licensing and a move to a one-time application fee.
  3. A new flat-rate business license fee of $160 to encourage local business growth.
